Fantastic broadcast quality!

I own a small production company where I act as a Cinematographer, Director and editor. I used Sennheiser lavs but wanted something a little smaller so picked up the Saramonic Blick 900’s and fell in love with the audio quality. I then picked up the Brand new Saramonic Ultras and they are nothing short of incredible for the money. I have used Saramonics on everything from events, documentaries to broadcast commercials and they have never let me down. If you pick these up you will want to get the DK3 Microphones. I had these from the Blink 900 package so I carried them over to the Ultras. Much better quality than the ones included with the Ultras. I’m guessing they included cheaper lava with the Ultras to keep the price the same since the unit is so feature rich and probably costlier.

High quality wireless microphone system

It's mind blowing that quality content creation tools are now accessible to just about everyone. There was a time not too long ago when a wireless microphone set of this quality was prohibitively expensive. If you didn't have a connection 'in the business' or access to a college AV department you were out of luck. This Saramonic wireless microphone set is an excellent product. Everything about this set feels high quality. The best electronics start by being aesthetically pleasing and that's definitely the case here. The devices look great in a functional, utilitarian way.The system is a perfect fit for all but the most serious audiophile use cases. It has the perfect balance of technical excellence and ease of use. Setup was a breeze, the two microphone transmitters connected to the receiver almost instantly and it held a charge well in an hour or so of testing. I tested these mics with a variety of devices--a video camera, my phone, and a DSLR camera. It worked great with all of them. The most significant test of any product comes over the long term--how does it hold up and perform with regular usage. That remains to be seen, but anything that I can assess now is definitely positive. In my tests it sounded great. The transmitters can be used as a clip on mic or as a belt pack for a lavalier or headset microphone. A pair of lavalier mics are included. I just used the transmitters as a clip on and it did a great job picking up my voice at various levels.Saramonic always delivers and this system is one of the best performers I've seen at such a reasonable price point. Highly recommended.

Worth every penny and then some

Saramonic has outdone themselves. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a 32-bit system from them any time soon but here we are and it's fantastic.First off, value for money is nuts. All the lavs, cables, adapters, and even an antenna for range extension are included. Plus you get that 32-bit recording feature with timecode - TIMECODE! If you would have told me I could get 32-bit and timecode in a tiny system just a few years ago I would have expected it to cost triple what this goes for. And if you don't like the included lavs, you can always upgrade.Recording 32-bit is extremely easy - just the push of a physical button on the mic pack. Plug it into your PC via USB and it mounts like a normal drive. Perfect, no nonsense. The sound quality is fantastic once you get the hang of the 32-bit. I initially had some issues with the noise floor when normalizing the levels but it was just a post production thing I had to figure so just be aware. Bonus: You can use this to record 32-bit from your boom mic. When you're a solo creator it can be difficult to dial in levels to keep from peaking, but with 32-bit you don't have to worry about it with all that latitude.Noise cancelation is pretty good. I've only been using it indoors in a closed setting but sometimes I need to filter out an air conditioner or what have you.I've not tested the full 250 (without antenna) to 300 (with) meter range since I generally shoot indoors but 100 meters plus is aways good to see. That also means that if you're not line of sight there should be enough signal to cut through your typical drywall. One thing I really appreciated was how solid the connections were with the phone connector and the antenna. It's the worst when you buy something with terrible tolerances and feels like an after though. The phone adapter even works with my case on which is a huge plus.Size wise, I couldn't have asked for anything better. So compact and easy to pack. With some of Saramonic's older mics, I would ditch the charging case because I needed to conserve space in my camera bag. But these are so small now I just throw the whole thing in there. One really nice touch was including magnets for the back of the mic packs. If you choose to use the built in mics instead of the lavs, sometimes finding a place to clip it on could be problematic. Now you can put the magnet inside the fabric and put it wherever you want. The menu system took a minute to get use to but certainly not a deal breaker. There's only so much room for screen gestures and physical buttons when your making something so compact. There are a lot more features that I'm forgetting about but for creators and small productions I would highly recommend this.

Top of its class

I am truly impressed with Saramonic's Ultra wireless system. It offers top of its class features (32 bit float, timecode, internal recording, 300 meter range, IPX5 protection) while costing less than the DJI and Rode versions that offer less. The Ultra is smaller, with a compact transmitter that feels solid and durable. The audio quality, particularly from the mic transmitter (rather than the included lavs which are good but not exceptional) is excellent, and the unit pairs nicely with my Sanken COS 11D lavs. With the included antennae, it has superb range with the ability to stay connected at considerable distances even without a line of sight. I own systems from Sennheiser (G2), Rode (original Wireless Go), Godox, Neewer, and Hollyland, and the Ultra is far and away my favorite. The system can also sync timecode with other timecode generators like the Deity TC-1 and the Tentacle Sync. In my opinion the Ultra is better than "pro" systems from Sennheiser, like the G4. It should be noted that the IPX5 protection can only be reached by using the included wind muffs to plug the 3.5mm input. In the future I hope for replaceable batteries, but as of now there are no "micro" systems from Saramonic/Rode/DJI that offer this.
